Tuition & Policies
Tuition Payments
Students are required to pay for weekly lessons every two lessons. For a one-time lesson, payment is expected at the conclusion of the lesson. Tuition payments can be paid via cash, check, Venmo, or PayPal. If a student fails to pay tuition after four or more consecutive lessons, their lessons may be discontinued. Tuition is not charged in advance for piano lessons, nor are students required to commit to a given number of lessons in order to take lessons.
Attendance Policy
Regular attendance is essential for the success of young musicians. For students' success, I recommend at least four lessons per month with the exception for the holidays and summer break. However, as a mother of two young boys, I understand that life happens, families have a lot going on, and sometimes plans need to be changed on short notice. I do not require make-up lessons in the event a lesson is missed. However, if a student needs to miss two or more consecutive piano lessons, I will recommend a make-up lesson but I cannot always guarantee them.

I understand many of my students are children and that life happens with kids, sicknesses, emergencies, and busy schedules. If a scheduled lesson needs to be missed, I require notice as soon as possible and within a reasonable timeframe that fits the circumstances. If a student does not show at a reserved lesson time with no notice whatsoever, I reserve the right to discontinue lessons with them. If a weekly piano student misses four or more consecutive lessons, I reserve the right to give their reserved time slot to another student and have lessons discontinued.
Performance Policy
Throughout the year, my students will have multiple opportunities to perform on the piano publicly. These opportunities will include spring and winter recitals, music festivals, and additional opportunities like playing for elderly residents of local nursing homes.

Students are required to take advantage of at least one performance opportunity per year, though I recommend they take advantage of as many performance opportunities as they possibly can.

Students who have been taking lessons for less than a are not expected to perform, though they are always welcome to if they want to.
Instrument & Equipment
All students need to have access to a keyboard or piano in their home in order to practice regularly. For keyboards, a full-size 88-key keyboard with weighted keys is recommended for optimal results. These keyboards best mimic the mechanics of a real piano. For upright or grand pianos in the home, it is recommended to have the piano tuned at least once a year.

Students should also have access to a metronome, a manual or electronic metronome. Many keyboards have a metronome built into the keyboard. Students are responsible for acquiring the lesson material recommended by their teacher. This can include lesson, performance, technique, theory, and note speller books, and additional repertoire as needed.

Practice Expectations
To get the most out of their tuition and piano lesson experience, weekly students are expected to practice and complete their material each week. This will typically include:
-
Lesson Song
-
Performance Piece
-
Technique Exercise
-
Theory and/or Notespeller Writing Assignment
For the best results, it is recommended that beginner students practice 15-20 minutes a day for 5 days a week. Intermediate-level students should practice for 30-45 minutes a day for 5 days a week for optimal results. A practice sheet or journal containing all assigned songs, exercises, and writing assignments will be sent home with weekly students.
